The BBC Singers make a welcome return to St George’s for a sublime evening of choral music with a focus on the best of British contemporary composers, including Judith Weir, Master of the King’s Music and James Macmillan.  The focus of the programme will be extracts from John Tavener’s seminal Veil of the Temple, which was first performed 20 years ago originally as an all-night vigil of spiritual splendour.

Sing with the BBC Singers

Are you a singer? From 6.40pm to 7pm, join the BBC Singers’ chief conductor Sofi Jeannin to rehearse singing Mother of God from Taverner’s Veil of the Temple.  This piece will then be performed by the BBC Singers, and you, as an immersive ‘live surround-sound’ excerpt of the concert. If you would like to take part, simply select the free ‘Sing with the BBC Singers’ add-on during checkout, and you will be added to the list.

Please note – Singers will need to source their own scores and be familiar with the music.

This concert will be recorded by BBC Radio 3 for later broadcast.
